Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about faaleoleo managed Bacula backup services.

Pricing & Plans

Are Bacula Enterprise licenses included in the subscription?

No. Bacula Enterprise licenses are not included in the faaleoleo subscription. You can bring your existing Bacula licenses or we can add them to your faaleoleo plan — whichever works best for you.

What does 12/5 or 12/7 support mean?

12/5 means 12 hours a day, 5 days a week (business days). 12/7 means 12 hours a day, 7 days a week including weekends. The Professional Plan includes 12/5 priority email support; the Managed Hosting and Enterprise plans include 12/7 dedicated support.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The Managed Hosting Plan includes a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.

How is faaleoleo pricing calculated?

Pricing is based on what you actually use — not per-CPU charges, not data volume. The Professional Plan starts at €599 per month. Managed Hosting and Enterprise plans are priced on request depending on infrastructure requirements.

Can I upgrade or downgrade between plans?

Yes. You can move between plans as your requirements change. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades are processed at the end of your current billing period.

Technical & Compatibility

Can I use faaleoleo with my existing Bacula installation?

Yes. faaleoleo manages your Bacula Enterprise environment without taking over ownership. You retain full data control. Existing Bacula licenses can be brought to the plan or added as part of your subscription.

Which operating systems does faaleoleo support?

Our hardened images run on Debian Linux. Bacula clients can be installed on any platform Bacula Enterprise supports — including Linux, Windows, macOS, and FreeBSD. We handle the server side; your clients connect to our managed infrastructure.

How does faaleoleo deploy Bacula?

We deliver Bacula as a hardened QCOW2 image or Docker container, depending on your plan and infrastructure. Every image goes through a six-stage automated quality pipeline including static analysis, clean-room deployment rehearsal, CVE scanning, and produces a signed audit report.

Can faaleoleo integrate with our existing monitoring or SIEM?

Yes. Integration with existing monitoring stacks, SIEM platforms, and alerting systems is available as an add-on service. We support standard interfaces including syslog, SNMP, and REST APIs.

What happens to our data if we stop using faaleoleo?

You retain full ownership of your backup data at all times. If you leave, we provide a handover package with your Bacula configuration, data exports, and documentation so you can continue operations independently.

Support & Operations

What does proactive monitoring mean in practice?

We monitor your Bacula environment continuously and escalate before you notice a problem. This includes backup job failures, performance degradation, storage thresholds, daemon health, and security events. You receive notifications only when action is needed — we handle routine issues without involving you.

How are security patches handled?

Security patches are applied automatically as part of our hardened image update cycle. Every update goes through the same six-stage pipeline as a new release. Critical CVEs are patched on an accelerated schedule. You never need to manually patch the Bacula server.

What compliance standards does faaleoleo support?

faaleoleo deployments are compliance-ready for NIS2, NIST, and DORA out of the box. Every release passes a six-stage automated quality pipeline including static analysis, clean-room deployment rehearsal, CVE scanning, and a signed audit report.

Where is data stored?

Managed Hosting and Enterprise plans run on infrastructure in Germany by default, meeting EU data residency requirements. Alternative regions are available for Enterprise customers. Professional Plan customers manage their own storage — faaleoleo manages the Bacula layer on top.
